Summer Beach Essentials
Bathing suit: check.
Beach towel: check.
Sunglasses: check.
Beach bag: check.
Sandals: check.
Sunscreen: check.
A smile: always.
Some summer days are really that simple.
In Bermuda, getting ready for the beach never seemed to require very much. Each morning you gladly put on your favorite bathing suit, still a little damp from the day before. You grabbed a towel and tucked it under one arm. Partly a fashion statement, your sunglasses were pushed onto your head before you even reached the sand, and behind you in tow was a beach bag carrying the few things everyone might need for the rest of the day.
And sunscreen, of course; the little bit of practical tucked among all that summer fun.
Then off you went.
Down the path to the beach, sandals filling with sand before eventually being abandoned somewhere near the towels and other gear. The water was impossibly turquoise, the sea gulls greeting overhead, and there was an entire day before you with nowhere else you needed to be.
We spend so much of our life thinking we need more: More plans, More things, and More time. But perhaps some of the days we remember most are those that needed very little at all.
A towel.
A bathing suit.
A little sun protection.
Someone you love beside you and a beautiful place to spend the afternoon.
A Summer Essential: For long days spent outside, sun protection is always on our list.
